Professional Bio
Jason Slanga is a teacher of Latin and AVID in Baltimore County, Maryland, and the Secretary of the North American Institute for Living Latin Studies. He holds a BA in Ancient Studies from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and has spent his career learning to teach Latin as an active, spoken language and training other teachers to do the same. During the summers Jason often serves on staff at Rusticatio Virginiana, a week-long, spoken-Latin immersion program. In 2011 he helped to develop a new Latin curriculum for Baltimore County Public Schools, incorporating the philosophies and current best practices of modern language instruction, and has spent the past three years continuing to develop that curriculum. His presentations at state and regional language conferences have been awarded Best of MFLA 2008, and Best of Northeast 2013.
